
Volleyball travels to Austin for weekend slate
AUSTIN, Texas – The Jarvis Christian volleyball team will travel to Austin this weekend for a set of conference matchups at Huston-Tillotson. The teams will play at 6 p.m. Friday night and at Noon on Saturday.
The Bulldogs head into the weekend with a 9-8 overall record and a 2-6 mark in conference play after losing two matches to Paul Quinn last weekend. JCU will face the Rams who are 4-14 on the season and 3-7 in conference action. They are coming off a win over Southwest last Saturday.
Asiah West continues to lead the Bulldogs in kills with 170 this season. She currently ranks third in the Red River Athletic Conference in kills. Jai Johnson follows right behind with 163 kills as she ranks fourth in the RRAC in the kills category. Johnson has a .234 hitting percentage for the season and ranks third in the conference in that area.
Kaia Brooks leads the team in digs as she has posted 168 so far. She is third in the RRAC in digs currently. Amariah Kendrick is the only other Bulldog to surpass the century mark in digs so far as she has recorded 125.
Lee-Andra Morin and Johnice Hubbard have led the way in assists for JCU this season. Morin has recorded 282 assists while Hubbard has 265.
In the serving category, four players are in the double digits for service aces. Brooks leads the way with 17 aces. Morin follows with 15, Hubbard has 13, and Kendrick has 11.
