MBB wraps up Texarkana Classic with win

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Jarvis Christian men's basketball team got back on the right track this weekend in Texarkana as they took down Wiley on Friday and capped off the weekend with a 77-69 win over Rust College on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs are now 2-1 to start the season.

Four Bulldogs scored in double figures to propel the team to its second win in a row. Jakobe Dill led the team in scoring as he put up 14 points. He was 2-5 from behind the three-point line, a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line and 4-9 in field goals. He also pulled in four rebounds in the impressive performance.

Jamari Robertson posted 13 points as he drained three three-pointers in the game. He also had two rebounds, three assists, and a steal. James Phillip Russell had another great performance as he scored 12 points to go along with three rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Jakari Jackson finished with 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Jorden Clark again led the team in rebounds as he pulled in 12 boards. He was 2-2 from the three-point line as he recorded nine points. George Nwogu and Tory Cargo each finished with six points. Nwogu had five rebounds, while Cargo recorded a rebound, an assist, and a steal.

The Bulldogs head to Louisiana on Tuesday for an exhibition game against Nicholls State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Thibodeaux.
