
Basketball teams open conference slate at TAMU – Texarkana
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Jarvis Christian men's and women's basketball teams will start Red River Athletic Conference play Thursday night when both teams travel to take on the Texas A&M – Texarkana Eagles.
Women's Basketball
Women's Basketball sits at 3-1 on the season. The last three games have been exhibitions against NCAA Division I members, so they have not counted toward the record. JCU opened the season with a loss before earning three-straight wins.
JCU will meet the Eagles who are 4-1 overall. TAMU – Texarkana is coming off a 92-59 win over Williams Baptist University on Saturday.
Faith Robinson has led the JCU scoring effort this season as she has averaged 18.3 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounds with 11.5 rebounds per game.
Micah McCrea and Ne'khyria Rogers have also averaged double figures in the scoring column. McCrea is averaging 12.8 points per game, while Rogers is averaging 10.8 points per game.
Men's Basketball
The men's basketball team is 2-2 to start the season after losing at Tougaloo College on Monday. The Bulldogs lost the season opener at Dillard University before winning back-to-back games against Wiley College and Rust College.
The Eagles from Texarkana are 6-1 coming into conference play. They are coming off a 79-60 win over Rust College last Tuesday.
James Phillip Russell and Jakobe Dill have teamed up to lead the JCU scoring effort so far this season. Russell is averaging 12.7 points per game, while Dill follows just behind with 12.5 points per game. Jakari Jackson is also averaging double figures with 11 points per game.
Jorden Clark has been the leader on the boards as he is averaging 10.3 rebounds per game. He is also averaging 8.3 points per game.
