WBB opens the season at home against Wiley

HAWKINS, Texas – The Jarvis Christian women's basketball team will open the 2022-23 season at home against Wiley College on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs will begin their first season under Sanetra Jackson, who has taken over as head coach of the JCU women's basketball program after serving as the assistant coach last season. Ashley Bell has just joined the program as the assistant women's basketball coach for this year.

Raniya White, Ne'khyria Rogers, Jazmin Sanders, Alexis Hordge, and Faith Robinson will make up the starting five for the first game of the season.

White is a transfer from Northland College where she averaged eight points and five rebounds a game. Rogers comes to JCU from Western Oklahoma State College where she averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game. Jazmin Sanders is a junior guard from Colfax, Louisiana. Alexis Hordge is a senior forward from Houston. She appeared in 19 games for JCU during the 2-21-22 season. Robinson is another strong transfer for the Bulldogs. She comes from Bossier Parrish Community College where she averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds a game while earning a Top-20 ranking in rebounds per game.

"We are excited to get the season started tomorrow afternoon at home against Wiley," Jackson said. "We have some great players that have transferred to JCU to start this year and a few returners that will have a big impact on the team this year. I can't wait for us to get on the court and get the season started."
