Volleyball hosts Texas College for doubleheader

HAWKINS, Texas – The Jarvis Christian volleyball team will host Texas College for a conference doubleheader at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday in the E.W. Rand Center on campus.

The Bulldogs sit at 13-8 overall and 4-6 in Red River Athletic Conference action coming into the conference matchup against the Steers. Texas College is winless this year at 0-13 overall and 0-10 in conference play.

JCU is on a four-game win streak after sweeping Southwest Adventist on Tuesday and defeating Philander Smith in four sets on Wednesday.

Asiah West, Jai Johnson, Aaronyana Wilson, and Kaia Brooks have been some of the critical players for the Bulldogs this season as they rank among the conference leaders in various categories.

West has totaled 226 kills this season, which is the second most in the RRAC. She also has a .210 hitting percentage that ranks fifth in the conference. Johnson has registered 209 kills as she ranks fourth in the conference in that category. Wilson follows just behind with 172 kills as she is fifth in the conference. Brooks ranks third in the RRAC in digs as she has recorded 210 this season.

Lee-Andra Morin and Johnice Hubbard continue to play a pivotal role for JCU as well Morin leads the team in assists with 386 so far. Hubbard follows just behind with 377. They each also have fired 25 service aces this season which is the second best on the team behind Brooks who has totaled 33 aces.
