
Volleyball heads to RRAC tournament as No. 5 seed
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – Following a regular season in which the Bulldogs went 7-9 in the Red River Athletic Conference, the Jarvis Christian volleyball team has earned the No. 5 seed for the RRAC Tournament, which will be held on Friday, November 11, and Saturday, November 12, at Xavier of Louisiana University's Convocation Center. The tournament will feature five matches in a single-elimination format across both days.
The Bulldogs will meet Louisiana Christian for third time in two weeks when they play at 10:30 a.m. on Friday to start the tournament. The Bulldogs and Wildcats split the conference series in Pineville, Louisiana as LCU won the first match, 3-1, and JCU took the second match, 3-2.
JCU capped off the regular season over the weekend as they lost both conference matches against Our Lady of the Lake University. The Bulldogs finished 17-11 overall with a 7-9 mark in conference action.
Asiah West and Jai Johnson have led the Bulldogs and the RRAC in kills this season. West posted 290 kills through the regular season to lead JCU and rank third in the conference. Johnson was credited with 265 kills as she ranks fourth in the RRAC to wrap up the regular season. Johnson also had a .216 hitting percentage, which is the fourth best in the conference.
Kaia Brooks led the team in digs as she recorded 261 throughout the season. She ranks fourth in the RRAC in that category.
Lee-Andra Morin and Johnice Hubbard led the way in assists all season. Morin wrapped up the regular season with 505 assists. She was also credited with 133 digs. Hubbard followed just behind as she registered 490 digs for the season. She finished with 153 digs.
Amariah Kendrick had a great season as a sophomore as she had 232 digs and 39 service aces. Chloe Buchanan finished the regular season with 175 digs. Alyzeh Vakameilalo had 172 digs for the season with 18 aces.
