Women’s Soccer drops road contest at Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – Gabriela Benavides scored her second goal of the season, and the Bulldogs' only goal of the day in a rain-soaked game where Oklahoma City outlasted Jarvis Christian, 2-1.

The Bulldogs fall to 0-2 on the season, while Oklahoma City improves to 3-0.

All three goals of the game were scored within the first 12 minutes before the game transitioned into a story of saves.

Oklahoma City's McLain Moss struck first in the second minute to score on an assist by April Hill. Shortly after in the sixth minute, Hill followed with a goal of her own to give the Stars a 2-0 advantage.

Benavides scored her second goal of the season in the 11th minute to cut the Stars' lead in half, 2-1. That would be the final goal of the game as the Stars held on the rest of the way to take the win.

The Bulldogs registered 14 saves in the game. Jazul Amaya had seven saves, and allowed two goals in just under 48 minutes of action. Hailey Rivera picked up five saves in just over 28 minutes on the field.

Yozary Gonzalez and Brisa Ibarra each had two shots. Ibarra had two shots on goal, while Gonzalez had one. Hariklia Sotelo and Veronica Gutierrez both had one shot. As a team, the Stars outshot the Bulldogs, 27-7.

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs return home to host the first home game of the season on Thursday, September 8. Kickoff with Central Baptist is slated for 2 PM.
