Women’s soccer set to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff

HAWKINS, Texas – Coming off a 9-0 win over Dallas Christian College on Saturday, the Jarvis Christian women's soccer team is set for a matchup with NCAA Division I opponent, Arkansas Pine-Bluff. The Bulldogs and Golden Lions will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jarvis Soccer Field.
The Bulldogs come into the matchup with a 2-2 record after posting wins in the last two games against Central Baptist and Dallas Christian. Arkansas Pine-Bluff sits at 3-5 on the year. They are coming off a 7-0 loss to Tulsa on Sunday. Both teams have a win against Central Baptist this season.
The Bulldogs are off to a historic start to the season. The 2-2 start is the program's best start through four games in program history. JCU's 16 goals are also the most scored through the first four games of the season in program history. The previous high was seven scored in the first four games of the 2018 season.
Gabriela Benavides scored the first goal in Saturday's win as she kept her streak alive with a goal scored in all four games this season. She leads the team in goals with her four. She also leads the team in shots on goal with eight.
Mitzy Guereca had an incredible performance Saturday as she booted in three goals and was credited with two assists. Guereca is second on the team in goals scored for the Bulldogs through three starts this season.
Emmalee Lopez, Andrea Mata, Kayla Ochoa, Angie Rivera, Evelyn Lopez, and Leslie Guereca have all scored for the Bulldogs this season as well to total 16 goals through four games.
