
Bulldogs take 5-1 win over Dallas Christian
HAWKINS, Texas – Juan Rodriguez, Kyang Dieu Merci, Yuneum Rios, and Julian Gomez all scored their first goals of the season as the Bulldogs rolled to a 5-1 win against Dallas Christian College on Saturday afternoon at the Jarvis Soccer Stadium.
The Bulldogs scored early and never looked back as they cruised to the win Saturday. Rodriguez started the scoring early as he booted in a goal in the fourth minute on an assist from Dieu Merci.
The rest of the first half was quiet, but Dieu Merci scored a goal of his own in the 50th minute to start the second half and give the Bulldogs the 2-0 advantage.
Rios scored in the 67th minute on an assist from Kevin Ochoa as the Bulldogs extended the lead to 3-0.
Dallas Christian answered with one goal from Jeremy Callejias to cut the lead down to 3-1 in the 80th minute. Minutes later in the 85th minute, an own goal by Dallas Christian gave the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead. Gomez would score the final goal of the afternoon in the 86th minute to seal the 5-1 win for the Bulldogs.
JCU outshot Dallas Christian, 22-12 in the game. Dieu Merci led the Bulldogs with five shots. Alex Alatorre took three shots in the game.
Goalkeeper Avramov Vladimir allowed one goal and registered two saves.

The Bulldogs return to their home field next Saturday, September 17 when they host North American for a 3:30 p.m. game.
