
Soccer hosts LSU-A to close out season
HAWKINS, Texas – The Jarvis Christian men's and women's soccer teams will host LSU-Alexandria to close out the regular season on Saturday at the Wendon L. Blair Soccer Field. The women will play at 1 p.m. with the men following at 3:30 p.m.
Women's Soccer
The women sit at 5-10-1 overall and 2-7-1 in conference play heading into the season finale on Saturday. The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-1 loss to Louisiana Christian on Thursday.
LSU-A is 8-4-1 overall and 6-3-1 in conference coming into the matchup. The Generals didn't play their Thursday match against Texas College because Texas College forfeited the match. In their last time out, LSU-A shutout Paul Quinn at home, 3-0.
Mitzy Guereca scored the lone goal of the day for JCU on Thursday as she notched her 11th goal of the season. She leads the team in goals scored and is tied for second in goals in the Red River Athletic Conference. She is also tied for second in the conference in points with 27 so far.
Hailey Rivera racked up six saves in the loss Thursday to increase her season total to 65 saves. She continues to lead the conference in that category.
Men's Soccer
The men are now 4-7-4 overall and 1-6-3 in conference after battling to a 2-2 draw with LCU on Thursday. Johan Arevalo and Kevin Ochoa booted in goals to earn the fourth draw of the season.
LSU-A comes into the matchup with a 5-5-4 overall record and 4-3-3 conference mark after defeating Texas College, 7-1 on Thursday.
Arevalo posted his 13th goal of the season Thursday as he continues to lead the team and conference in goals scored. He was also credited with an assist, which helped boost his season points total to 30 as he also leads the RRAC in points.
