Soccer travels to Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Jarvis Christian soccer teams will head to Texarkana on Thursday for a set of conference matches with Texas A&M – Texarkana. The women will play at 1 p.m. with the men following at 3:30 p.m.

Women's Soccer

The women's soccer team is coming off a draw with Our Lady of the Lake last weekend. The Bulldogs sit at 5-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play. JCU will meet the conference leader in Texas A&M – Texarkana who sits at 11-1-1 overall with a 6-0-1 conference mark. The Eagles earned a 5-2 win over LSU – Shreveport last weekend.

Mitzy Guereca continues to be a leader for the Bulldogs while also ranking among conference leaders in various categories. Guereca has found the net 10 times this season as she ranks second in the conference in goals scored. She also has registered five assists, which is tied for second in the conference. Guereca also ranks second in the conference in points as she has accumulated 25 this season.

In the goalie spot, Hailey Rivera leads the conference in saves as she has recorded 52 this season.

Men's Soccer

The men's soccer team comes into Thursday's matchup with a 4-6-2 mark on the season. The Bulldogs have posted a 1-5-1 conference record so far. The Eagles come into the match with a 4-7-2 overall record and 2-3-2 conference mark. The Eagles lost on the road at LSU – Shreveport in their last time out.

Over the weekend, Johan Arevalo booted in two goals to extend his scoring streak to five matches. However, the Bulldogs came up short in a 4-3 loss to OLLU. Arevalo has scored 11 goals this season as he leads the conference in scoring. He also has 25 points for the season, which ranks second in the conference.

Kevin Ochoa and Kyang Dieu Merci are the only other Bulldogs that have scored more than once this season. Ochoa has scored four goals, while Dieu Merci has scored twice.

Avramov Vladimir has primarily played the goalkeeper position, but Jahir Arevalo has also stepped in with two starts and appearances in three matches. Jahir has totaled 13 saves. Vladimir has earned 10 starts this season as he has registered 29 saves.
