
Soccer plays host to LCU Thursday
HAWKINS, Texas – Coming off a two-week road stand, the Jarvis Christian men's and women's soccer teams return home to face Louisiana Christian on Thursday afternoon at the Wendon L. Blair Soccer Field on campus. The women will play at 1 p.m. with the men following at 3:30 p.m.
Women's Soccer
Last time out, the women lost to LSU – Shreveport, 4-0. The Bulldogs sit at 5-9-1 overall and 2-6-1 in conference play.
The Bulldogs will face Louisiana Christian, who sits in the middle of the pack in the conference. The Wildcats are 6-4-2 overall with a 4-3-2 conference mark. LCU played a doubleheader Saturday as they tied with Southwest and defeated Paul Quinn, 8-1.
Mitzy Guereca leads the team in goals and is tied for second in the Red River Athletic Conference in goals scored this season. She has booted in 10 goals in 12 starts. She also has five assists, which is tied for third in the conference. Between the goals and assists, Guereca has accumulated 25 points, which ranks second in the RRAC.
Defensively, Hailey Rivera leads the conference in saves as she has totaled 59 saves this season.
Men's Soccer
The Bulldogs were shutout on the road at LSU – Shreveport over the weekend in a 5-0 loss. JCU is 4-7-3 overall and 1-6-2 in conference action.
JCU will meet LCU, who is unblemished in RRAC action at 5-0-4. The Wildcats are 8-2-5 overall this season. LCU swept a doubleheader Saturday as the Wildcats defeated Southwest and Paul Quinn.
Johan Arevalo has proved to be one of the key players for JCU this season as he leads the conference and team in goals scored with 12. He has totaled 27 points so far, which is tied for first in the RRAC. Arevalo held a six-match scoring streak that was snapped in the shutout loss at LSU – Shreveport.
