Men’s Soccer draws at TAMU-Texarkana, 2-2

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Jarvis Christian men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw Thursday night in a conference matchup at Texas A&M – Texarkana.

The Bulldogs move to 4-6-3 overall and 1-5-2 in Red River Athletic Conference action.

JCU took a 2-0 lead into halftime as Jesus Saenz and Arturo Gonzalez scored goals in the first half. Saenz scored in the 13th minute for the first goal of the match. Orlando Rodriguez was credited with the assist. Gonzalez extended the JCU lead as he booted in a goal in the 42nd minute.

Dante Zavala answered for the Eagle out of the break as he found the net in the 49th minute to cut the JCU lead in half. Later in the second half, Damilare Origunloye scored on an assist from Golden Eguaikhide in the 74th minute to tie the match, 2-2.

JCU outshot the Eagles, 11-10. Gonzalez had three shots on the day with two shots on goal and one goal. Saenz took two shots as he scored his one goal.

Avramov Vladimir got the start at the goalie spot and played the whole match. He allowed the two goals and picked up three saves.

JCU wraps up the four-game road stand at LSU-Shreveport on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
