Soccer wraps up road slate at LSU-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – The Jarvis Christian men's and women's soccer teams will complete a four-game road slate Saturday when they travel to Louisiana to meet LSU-Shreveport. The women will play at 1 p.m. with the men following at 3:30 p.m.
Women's Soccer
The women sit at 5-8-1 overall and 2-5-1 in conference coming into the matchup with LSU-Shreveport after losing at Texas A&M-Texarkana on Thursday. The Pilots sit at 7-4-3 overall with a 2-4-2 conference mark after taking an 11-0 win over Texas College on Thursday.
Mitzy Guereca continues to lead the JCU offense as she has scored 10 goals in 11 starts this season. She has also tacked on five assists as she has accumulated 25 points this season.
Hariklia Sotelo and Gabriela Benavides have also sparked the JCU offense as Sotelo has found the net five times this season while Benavides has booted in four goals. A slew of 10 other Bulldogs have score at least one goal this season as well.
Men's Soccer
The men are coming off a 2-2 draw with Texas A&M-Texarkana on Thursday. Jesus Saenz and Arturo Gonzalez scored JCU's two goals in the contest to move the Bulldogs to 4-6-3 overall and 1-5-2 in conference action. The Pilots from Shreveport come into the match flaunting an undefeated conference record at 6-0-2. LSU-Shreveport is 9-3-3 overall this season.
Johan Arevalo leads the team and the conference in goals scored this season with 11 under his belt. He has also totaled 25 points, which ranks second in the conference.
Kevin Ochoa, Kyang Dieu Merci, and Gonzalez have all scored multiple goals this season. Ochoa has scored four times, while Dieu Merci and Gonzalez have found the net twice.
Avramov Vladimir continues to be the mainstay at the goalie spot as he has notched 32 saves in 11 starts.
