
MS battles to 2-2 draw against LCU
HAWKINS, Texas – Johan Arevalo and Kevin Ochoa each scored a goal in Thursday's match as the Jarvis Christian men's soccer team fought to force the draw with Louisiana Christian.
The tie marks the fourth of the season and third in conference play for the Bulldogs. JCU moves to 4-7-7 overall with a 1-6-3 conference mark.
LCU scored early as Lucas Lima found the goal in the sixth minute to take the 1-0 lead. Natty Essomba was charged with the assist.
Arevalo responded early in the second half as he booted in his 13th goal of the season to tie the match, 1-1. Arevalo currently leads the Red River Athletic Conference in goals (13) and points (30).
Minutes later, Shakeem Walters scored on an assist from Lima as the Wildcats reclaimed the lead, 2-1.
Ochoa would respond in the 73rd minute as he found the goal on an assist from Arevalo to tie the match, 2-2. The goal marked Ochoa's fifth of the season.
Avramov Vladimir got the start at the goalie spot as he allowed the two LCU goals and picked up three saves in the draw.
