
Arevalo Named Player of the Week
JCU's Arevalo, TAMUT's Mendez open season with RRAC men's soccer weekly awards
WACO, Texas – Johan Arevalo of Jarvis Christian University (Texas) was recognized as the RRAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Aug. 21-27, while Jacob Mendez of Texas A&M University-Texarkana was selected as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the first set of conference awards for the 2023 men's soccer season.
Arevalo netted a pair of goals and assisted on another in the Bulldogs' 7-3 season-opening win over Texas Wesleyan University on Saturday. The junior forward from Mission, Texas, scored on both of his shots on goal. Arevalo was a first-team all-conference selection last year.
Mendez recorded a shutout in the Eagles' 4-0 win over Central Baptist College (Ark.). The senior goalkeeper from Crowley, Texas, recorded two saves as TAMUT started the season with a win.
